A New Zealand Ski Vacation Experience
For those that are seeking a ski adventure that may be outside the normal boundaries, a New Zealand ski vacation is something not to be missed. This country offers spectacular skiing in the off season for many. The New Zealand ski season runs from July through October, making skiing year round a possibility.

A New Zealand ski vacation can be found in the ski resorts of Queenstown and Wanaka. Both areas offer classic ski vacation amenities including fast chair lifts, ski lessons and snow boarding instruction. The New Zealand ski vacation can be a great experience for both the novice to the sport to the more experienced. These resorts offer some great opportunities for skiing, and many enjoy the services provide at these resorts.
A little off the beaten path, there are ski areas that can be walked into or you need a four wheel drive vehicle to access these areas. This type of New Zealand ski vacation is probably geared more towards an experienced skier than someone that may need more assistance.
These ski areas can be found in the same region as the big resorts, but they offer a more rural setting. There are tow ropes instead of the sleek chair lifts, and sometimes you may need to hike up the mountain to get to the top. For the avid skier however, this type of New Zealand ski vacation may offer a more intense experience. The lines are obviously shorter and for many ski addicts this is a great way to get some quality skiing time in!
Another type of New Zealand ski vacation can include Heli-skiing. This is done by using a helicopter. The skiers board the helicopter and then they are taken to a remote location and dropped into the area. At the bottom of the mountain they are then picked up. Often theses out of bounds areas provide not only fantastic skiing opportunities, but also pristine views. One such area that can be found in a New Zealand ski vacation is the Tasmin Glacier area. This allows the skier to enjoy a 12km view of the glacier. It is not only beautiful, but the skiing is uninterrupted. Being able to have a long stretch of good skiing is something that many avid skiers are looking for.
A New Zealand ski vacation may be the ultimate ski adventure for those that are seeking a unique adventure in an exotic location.
