One of the greatest out sports is Skiing

Skiing is an out door sport and as such you need gear that will keep you warm and dry. Fundamentals are ski pants (waterproof and warm), a ski jacket, gloves, a hat (toque) and thin socks. Skiing is not all about balls - it is about balance. I have seen many friends - resolute to ski off-piste or bust - continue to bang their heads against their lack of skill until finally they learn to do it properly. Skiing is best in the East but the west is getting better. In fact any of the ski area should give some great sport.

Skiing is individual’s choice of the few sports where men and women take part in team, Skiing is immense sport but can be unsafe. Next to golf, it is not in fact a sport but a part of middle-class pretension. If you haven’t had a catastrophe on the slopes, you have got to know someone who has, don’t spoil it by taking unnecessary risks, being banned from the Mountain, or getting yourself prosecuted or tangled up in a court case is not worth it.

Skiing compared with off-pisting

The snow is hardly ever light powder, but spring skiing offers very good pledge and yet more so if you’re prepared to sweat for your turns. Off-pisting is other than skiing, and includes learning new skill to deal with continually shifting snow surfaces, Be sure to familiarize your self with the safety measures.

From a beginner’s off-piste class, to being dropped off on the top of a mountain by a helicopter, to ’ski tours’ (survival skills, camping and rock-climbing skill are a must), off-piste skiing is a winter sport all of its own.

Skiing & Snowboarding review and tips.

Snowboarding is very trendy and exhilarating. Snowboards can be hired in Les Houches and there are schools to teach you how to do it! Snow quality is usually superb until late in the season, as the lifts go up beyond 11,000 feet. The runs from Plateau Rosa down to the village are long and varied (Ventina piste is my favourites), as are the runs to Valtournanche.

Freshly fallen snow glistens on the branches of fir trees, white peaks glow with fresh snow far into the horizon. The winter sun, warm on the back, cast prolonged shades across fresh snow.
