What To Do In Aspen
Is it true that off season there is nothing to do in Aspen? Not true at all! Although Aspen is the premier skiing location in the entire United States, and internationally recognized resort city, there are plenty of amenities and things to do in Aspen away from the snow. Aspen was originally founded as a mining camp and was eventually named because of its abundance of aspen trees. There are still many aspen trees to find in the area, not to mention plenty of other natural treasures such as gardens, forests and hiking trails.
Some of the most popular activities in Aspen are sports that are meant to be played on land. You can find tourists taking part in mountain biking, white water rafting, fly fishing, paragliding, paintball and even hot air balloon rides. Scenic wise, the city is very rich and you can get a nice full view of the city by taking a chair lift. Golfing is also a popular activity, especially the Snowmass Golf Course, which has been planned and constructed by an award winning golf architect.
For music events don’t miss Belly Up and Jazz Aspen Snowmass, local events for upcoming musical artists. Aspen has a great deal of personality and the ambiance that this city gives off has been covered by some well known artists, including John Denver and Hunter S. Thompson.
