Ski Holidays in Europe

by Craig Walker

There are many areas in Europe where you can enjoy a ski holiday. Europe contains fantastic terrain and conditions that are perfect for winter sports. Historically the countries of Italy, France, Austria, Andorra and Switzerland were popular ski holiday destinations. However today you can have a great holiday wherever you find snow and a mountain.

The French Alps make France the number one ski destination. It is popular not only for its chalets, and ski terrain but also because of its proximity to the UK and other European countries. Some of the tope ski chalets can be found in France; Val D’Iseres, Courchevel, Alpe D’Huezs, Meribel, Chamonix and Tignes. These resorts were built to cater to the skiing clientele.

The next raining ski destination in the world is Austria. Besides the excellent skiing, Austria has picturesque landscapes and some of the best service in the world. In Austria you can find ski resorts suited for all skiing levels and no matter your ski level you will be sure to have a great time.

Some of the most difficult skiing in the world can be found in Switzerland. The Swiss Alps has the toughest and highest ski runs in the world. Swiss ski chalets were built around existing towns so there is a lot of culture to experience as well as skiing, something that French ski chalets may lack. Besides the very advanced ski trails there are some chalets designer for the intermediate skier.

Italy also has some great skiing experiences and tends to be less expensive then Switzerland, Austria, and France. The Alps at Italy’s northern boarder and the Dolomites provide excellent winter skiing. Trails in Italy are perfect for those learning to ski. No matter where you go in Europe you will have a great time but make sure you chose a resort at your skiing level.
